Revived, Recreated and Rebuilt

for

Resilience

(2022-2023)

MEHAR is honoured to announce that we have received a grant from an esteemed funding organization to revive, recreate and rebuild our core theatre program “I am still Me”. Since the inception of our organization, our skits “I am still Me” have successfully imparted mental health education in a very unique and effective manner. However, our theatrical project was hugely impacted during the pandemic due to the nature of program delivery and the component of in-person engagement. Even though we continued to provide awareness through In theatrical Conversations during the time of social distancing, the scope and impact of our theatre project got very limited.

Under this new project, Resilience which took off on June 1, 2022, we have started working towards creating a hybrid and digital format to deliver our theatrical project to distant and hard-to-reach communities.

The process will involve recreating our three original skits on important mental health topics.

A significant increase in substance use and addictions has been reported on numerous reliable sites. It is indeed essential to educate and inform our community about the impact of substance use on mental well-being and quality of life. Through this grant, MEHAR has also started working on creating an additional digital resource in the form of a short film on managing addictions. The new short film will be an extension of our previous film “The Healing Journey” and will aim at creating awareness around coping and recovering from addiction.

Our humble request is to support this project by attending, volunteering and offering donations/sponsorships to give the maximum

benefits to our community.
